    BKM Express’ Android application was launched.

    2013-1
    In addition to iPhone, Android mobile application and mobile website (html5) were implemented. BKM Express mobile application can be downloaded free of charge from Apple Store and Google Play Store. Members of BKM Express can immediately log in the application with their currently effective e-mail addresses and passwords and begin to send money and access the member merchants in order to shop.
    BKM Completed the First Card Payment Project for Public Payments with SSI! (26 November 2013)
    Cardholders are now able to pay their Social Security Institution (SSI) premium debts through the web, rapidly, securely, and easily for 7×24 thanks to the payment platform, created jointly by Interbank Card Center (BKM) and SSI.
    Contactless cards of all banks can now be used for public transportation as a part of Konya Transportation Project. (8 November 2013)
    It is now possible to use contactless credit cards, debit cards and advanced payment cards of all banks in the buses and tramrails of Konya thanks to the project that was first implemented in Konya and planned to be used nationwide later. This project does not only allow to use contactless cards but also NFC compliant mobile phones to pay ticket fares of all public transportation vehicles of Konya, in which 20 tramrail stops and 340 buses are operating.
    BKM Express, offering secure, easy and fast online shopping, has been moved to mobile phones thanks to the new mobile application and started the era of transferring money to mobile phones. (25 July 2013)
    BKM Express mobile application can be freely downloaded from Apple Store. Sending money does not take even one minute in this application, which features an easy-to-use interface and simple screens. After clicking “Send Money” option on the main menu of mobile application and then selecting “Recipient Selection” option, the phone or card number, to which the money will be sent, will be entered. Then the bank or credit card, to which the money will be sent, the payment type and amount are entered and money transfer is completed. After the money is transferred, the recipient can withdraw the money from any ATM for 7x 24 by using the PIN, sent via SMS.

    BKM Express, which was implemented by Interbank Card Center (BKM) in Turkey for the first time in the world, is a revolutionary product in e-commerce. BKM Express, developed by the banks and leading companies of e-commerce industry, is combining credit cards, debit cards and prepaid cards in a single digital wallet.

    The years, in which credit cards started to replace cash in US. Hundreds of banks, ranging from Bank of America to Chase Manhattan, began to distribute credit cards to their customers.
     
    For the first time in the world, a US bank started to apply “an account without interest accrual for 30 days” for credit card. Penetration of credit cards, which slowly began to replace cash in US, to European markets. Distribution of first credit card in Europe by British Barclays Bank.

    63 years after the novel of Edward Bellamy, named “Looking Backward or Life in The Year 2000”, Frank Mc Namara has introduced Diners Club card, the first model of credit cards that we use today.

    General Petroleum Company introduced an oil card, which allows to making payments without cash at fuel stations in some states of USA.

    Western Union Bank introduced the first “payment card on credit” of the world with the slogan, “buy now, pay later”.

    1894



    Hotel Credit Letter Company in USA launched the first  “payment card” of the world, which is valid only in some hotels for distinguished businessmen of those days. With this card, people had a payment system that is alternative to cash for the first time.

    The idea of making payments with card instead of cash money was introduced for the first time in a novel, titled “Looking Backward or Life in The Year 2000” of US author, Edward Bellamy.
     
    This idea, which was very far and impossible to reach for people at those days, has become an inevitable part of our lives.
